So, I am still in nursing school. It is December 2008. I am a little nervous already, bc the job market is not good for new grads. I am in the process of trying to decide how far i am willing to drive to work and what departments I will NOT work in. At this point, I am open to almost anything in regards to a nursing job, but I do not want to take a position that I will not be happy in, bc that isn't worth anything.

I will be doing my preceptorship at St Jo's, and I am a little nervous to do my precepting rotation at a hospital that I have never been. if things work out, i will be working with a highly recommended RN in oncology.
So far, I have been to:
Dameron - N1 & N2
County - Mental health
County - both med/surg rotations (ICU and ED)
County - peds
St. Joseph's - Precepting (Oncology)
County - L&D

I really had plans to visit more hospitals duing my time in school, but choices were limited and the schedules changed from what i had chosen anyway.

I have really enjoyed school so far, but I am probably farther away from knowing what i want to do than I was when i started. Originally, I wanted peds (before starting school). Then the summer between my 2nd and 3rd semester I was gung-ho for L&D. i read numerous books and learned quite a bit about the birthing process. i even took a beginning class on fetal heart monitoring.

Now, I am considering many things. Versant at Dameron offers in Med/surg, ICU and ED, so I am heavily considering those fields. I have even resorted to finding "tests" online that will match your personality with a specialty (i found some for MDs). I guess I will know soon enough.
